Emissaries, Lisa Reihana’s 2017 Venice Biennale project, continues to enthrall viewers and across the Tasman there is the chance to see the artist’s works on both sides of the country.
As part of the month-long Perth Festival, Emissaries is on display at the John Curtin Gallery from 3 February - 29 April, while Sydney’s Campbelltown Arts Centre presents Cinemania until March 29. The latter exhibition includes not only In Pursuit of Venus [infected], but also looks back over 30 years of Reihana’s photographic and video practice. A highlight in Campbelltown will be the opportunity to see the immersive work Tai Whetuki – House of Death Redux (2015/16), which was one of four finalists for the prestigious Walters Prize in 2016.
